Commission: 434 Individuals Stripped of Kuwaiti Citizenship

Kuwait City: The Supreme Committee on Kuwaiti Citizenship announced on Thursday the decision to strip 434 individuals of their Kuwaiti citizenship before referring the cases to the cabinet. The meeting, chaired by Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, resulted in this significant decision.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry of Interior disclosed that five individuals lost their citizenship due to dual citizenship, citing articles 10 and 11 of the citizenship law. Additionally, the commission revoked citizenship from 275 individuals who had acquired it through forgery, fraud, and affiliation.

The committee also applied article 13, clause four, to revoke citizenship from one individual born to a Kuwaiti mother, citing the state's higher interest. Similarly, 16 individuals who had received citizenship in recognition of valuable services were stripped of their status under the same legal clause.

Furthermore, 137 individuals had their citizenship revoked in consideration of the country's higher interest, as per article 13, clause four, and due to their affiliation-based acquisition.
