Closed-door Bilateral Meeting Between Russia and GCC Commences in Sochi

Sochi: Closed-door bilateral meetings between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his counterparts from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries kicked off in the Russian city of Sochi as part of the eighth round of the strategic dialogue between the two sides.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that an expanded open session will be held immediately following the closed-door meetings. This session will feature the participation of Lavrov and the foreign ministers of the GCC states. Following these discussions, a press conference will take place, including Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, who represents Kuwait as the current chairman of the GCC, and Jassim Mohammad Al-Budaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Council.

The agenda of the talks encompasses discussions on enhancing trade, cultural, and humanitarian relations between the Russian Federation and GCC countries. Additionally, the talks aim to exchange views on regional developments in the Middle East and North Africa, focusing on the situations in Syria and Yemen, among other topics of mutual interest.
