China Reaffirms Taiwan as “Inseparable Part” Amid Rising Tensions

China: China on Wednesday reiterated its firm position regarding Taiwan, asserting that the island is an "inseparable part" of Chinese territory. This statement was issued in response to comments made by Taiwanese leader Lai Chin-te.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Taiwan affairs office, which is affiliated with China's state council, released a statement describing Taiwan's link with China as a "non-controversial historic and legal fact." This came after Lai Chin-te remarked that the two sides of the Formosa Strait do not belong to each other and criticized Chinese military drills as threats to regional stability and peace. The statement accused Lai of "describing the white as black" and charged him with spreading misinformation about Taiwan's independence to mislead both the public and the international community.

The official statement further criticized Lai for adopting a separatist stance since taking office, suggesting that his approach has incited hostility against China and increased tensions. China emphasized its unwillingness to compromise on Taiwan's independence, vowing to "crush all separatists' practices and external intervention."

The statement also cautioned the ruling Democratic Progressive Party in Taiwan, asserting that the reunification of China is an unstoppable trend. It warned that reliance on external forces to seek independence is doomed and insisted that any individual betraying their homeland will be held accountable.
