Kuwait city: China on Monday criticized the U.S. for repeatedly sending warships and military aircraft to the South China Sea as undermining regional peace and stability. This came in a statement by Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Guo Jiakun during a news briefing following the crash of two U.S. military aircraft while they were on routine military missions in the South China Sea.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Guo was quoted by Xinhua News Agency as saying that China is ready to help the American side if it wants, just out of human considerations.
Two U.S. Navy aircraft, a helicopter and a fighter jet, on Sunday crashed separately in the South China Sea during routine operations from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. All five crew members were safely rescued.
The incidents came while U.S. President Donald Trump was visiting the region to participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Kuala Lumpur.
