Beijing: China and Azerbaijan have announced the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership by signing 20 cooperative documents aimed at enhancing bilateral relations in various sectors. This development follows discussions between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who commenced a three-day state visit to China on Tuesday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, during their talks, President Xi emphasized the importance of strengthening political trust, deepening practical cooperation, and enhancing international coordination between the two nations to usher in a new era of bilateral relations. He noted that both countries are committed to mutual respect, justice, fairness, and win-win cooperation, supporting each other on issues critical to their core interests.
President Xi cautioned that tariff and trade wars threaten the global economic order and undermine multilateral systems. He stated, "China is ready to work with the Azerbaijan side to uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core... and safeguard international fairness and justice."
Azerbaijani President Aliyev expressed his country's readiness to deepen its comprehensive strategic partnership with China. He highlighted Azerbaijan's eagerness to expand bilateral cooperation in green energy, technology, and culture, and to address regional and international issues collaboratively. Aliyev also reaffirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to the one-China principle and its recognition of Taiwan as an integral part of China.
