CENTCOM: 10 rockets targeted anti-IS forces in Syria

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Friday that 10 rockets targeted anti-IS international coalition forces at the Green Village in northeast Syria earlier today.

“The attack resulted in no injuries to US or coalition personnel and no damage to US equipment or facilities,” reads the CENTCOM statement.

It, however, noted that one of the rockets missed the facility by almost five kilometers, striking a civilian house, causing significant damage and causing minor injuries to two women and two children.

“This kind of indiscriminate rocket attack places not only our forces and coalition forces at risk, but also jeopardizes the local civilian population as well as the security and stability of Syria and the entire region,” said Col. Joe Buccino, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command.

“As President Biden has made clear, we will take all necessary measures to defend our people and will always respond at a time and place of our choosing,” continued Buccino.
