Ceasefire Agreement in Lebanon Step Towards Regional Security, Stability – UK.

Beirut: British Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated that the ceasefire in Lebanon is an important step towards a long-term political settlement, consistent with UN Security Council Resolution 1701, as it is the only way to restore security and stability in the region. In a statement, Lammy asserted that, "The devastation from this conflict is appalling and the human suffering must be addressed." He emphasized that the UK will continue to support UNIFIL's essential role in maintaining peace along the Blue Line and the Lebanese Armed Forces. According to Kuwait News Agency, Lammy highlighted the UK's efforts in addressing the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, which includes GBP 15 million in humanitarian support. This aid comprises essential medical supplies, emergency cash assistance, shelter, and access to clean water. The Foreign Secretary called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of all hostages, and an end to Israeli occupation's restrictions on aid. The ceasefire agreement in Le banon came into effect recently, prompting Lebanese internally displaced persons to begin returning to their towns and villages. This development is seen as a significant move towards regional security and stability, with the UK actively participating in efforts to support peace and humanitarian aid in the affected areas.
