Cairo, Moscow Sign Complementary Contract for Dabaa Nuclear Plant

Cairo: Egypt and Russia signed Tuesday a complementary protocol to their intergovernmental agreement on nuclear cooperation aiming at the construction and operation of nuclear power plants in Egypt. Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat and Director General of Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) Alexey Likhachev signed the protocol, the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy said in a press release.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the move comes in the context of Egyptian-Russian nuclear cooperation, partnership, program of action, and timetable for Egypt's Dabaa nuclear plant. The protocol also reflects both sides' commitment to fast-tracking the implementation of Dabaa nuclear plant as part of Egypt's program for peaceful energy purposes.
