Kuwait city: The Cabinet, during its regular meeting on Tuesday, reviewed proposals to enhance the master plan for the Sulaibikhat Bay development project. The session was chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Bayan Palace. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereeda Al-Mousherji reported that Abdullatif Al-Mishari, the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, presented a comprehensive update on the master plan, which includes the creation of nature and marine reserves, as well as residential and commercial sectors complemented by public recreational facilities. The plan also envisions the development of the Ras Ashirj area and Ashirj Islands.
According to Kuwait News Agency, His Highness the Prime Minister began the meeting by briefing Cabinet members on the outcomes of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Kuwait. Discussions between His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and President Erdogan centered on strengthening bilateral relations, exploring ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors, and expanding mutual interests on both regional and international levels. The visit resulted in the signing of several agreements, including a maritime transport agreement and memoranda of understanding in the energy sector and direct investment promotion.
Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance, and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, reported on his recent official visit to the United States. Alongside other Kuwaiti officials, he participated in the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. Discussions included global economic outlooks, poverty alleviation, and economic development. The minister also highlighted the World Bank’s support for digital transformation and infrastructure improvements in Arab countries.
Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem also attended a high-level event titled “Economic Transformation in Kuwait – Foundations for a New Era,” organized by the Kuwait Banking Association at George Washington University. The event emphasized the financial sector’s role in Kuwait’s economic diversification and transformation in line with Vision 2035, emphasizing strategic partnerships with the United States in technology, renewable energy, and innovative finance.
In addition to these discussions, the Cabinet reviewed various agenda items, approving some and referring others to ministerial committees for further study. The Cabinet also ratified the minutes of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship, addressing cases of citizenship loss, withdrawal, and revocation as per Decree Law No. (15) of 1959 and its amendments.
