Cabinet Approves Expansion of Transport Cooperation with UAE and Supports Public Greening Initiatives


Kuwait city: The Cabinet convened its regular session at Bayan Palace under the leadership of the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah, giving the green light to a draft decree aimed at enhancing transport collaboration with the United Arab Emirates and supporting public greening efforts.



According to Kuwait News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereedah Al-Mousherji announced that the ministers first reviewed messages from the Amiri Diwan addressed to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. These communications were from presidents of allied and friendly nations, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and activating cooperation across multiple sectors.



The ministers approved a draft decree concerning a memorandum of understanding between Kuwait and the UAE. This agreement focuses on land transport and road regulations, aiming to overhaul land transportation and railways, exchange expertise, align with international advancements, and encourage joint investments. It also promotes partnerships between public and private sectors to implement smart transport systems and modern technologies.



The proposed decree also includes exchanging practical methods for road asset management, installing smart monitors, reducing operational costs, and applying environmental sustainability standards in road projects. The relevant draft decree will be submitted to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.



In addition, the ministers reviewed the minutes of the ministerial public services commission, which included a report from the “urban green development initiatives committee.” This report highlighted initiatives and donations from individuals, companies, and cooperative societies for beautification projects along roads, highways, and in public parks, as well as for installing memorial statues at key intersections.



The report also proposed the rehabilitation and cultivation of coral reefs around Kuwaiti islands. The ministers approved these initiatives, praising Al-Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Humoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for his efforts in enhancing community initiatives and encouraging public participation in beautifying Kuwait.



The ministers were informed about the official delegation accompanying the Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, during his Qatar visit for the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha. The Kuwaiti delegation included several prominent figures, such as Minister of Social Affairs, Family Affairs and Childhood Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila, and others.



Meanwhile, Minister of Electricity, Water, Renewable Energy, and Finance, Dr. Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, briefed the Cabinet on his participation in the Ninth Edition of the Future Investment Initiative conference in Saudi Arabia, which focused on balancing economic growth and environmental sustainability.



Additionally, Dr. Nora Al-Mashaan, Minister of Public Works, reported on the results of Chinese Vice President Han Zheng’s visit to Kuwait, which included discussions on enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields.



The Cabinet also reviewed the “ministerial committee for food, medicinal and water security” minutes, discussing a report from the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy. This report outlined strategies to enhance Kuwait’s water resources through innovative technology and prioritized securing specialized personnel for water resource management.



Finally, the Cabinet examined and approved various agenda topics and adopted minutes of the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation, addressing cases of citizenship revocation under decree-into-law 15/1959.
