Kuwait City: The cabinet has issued a decision to appoint Abeer Anwar Al-Awadhi as the head of the Kuwait National Cybersecurity Center. Her appointment is set for a period of four years, with the possibility of renewal for an additional term.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the decision was made following a comprehensive review of various decrees and laws, including the Constitution and the Amiri Decree issued on May 10, 2024. The relevant Civil Service laws and decrees from 1979 and their subsequent amendments were also taken into consideration. Additionally, the decree establishing the National Cybersecurity Center in 2022 and its amendment in 2023 influenced the decision.
The appointment decision was based on a presentation by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Article One of the cabinet's decision specifically names Abeer Anwar Abdullah Al-Awadhi as the new head of the center. Article Two outlines that the Minister of Interior is responsible for implementing the decision, effective immediately upon issuance and to be published in the official Gazette.
This decision was signed by Acting Prime Minister Fahad Yusef Al-Sabah, underscoring the importance of strengthening cybersecurity measures in the country.
