Britain Imposes New Sanctions on Russian Oil Sector

London: Britain declared on Wednesday slapping new sanctions on Russia mainly targeting the oil and energy sectors. The foreign office said in a statement that the curbs targeted Lukoil and Rosneft companies that both export more than three million barrels of oil per day.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the sanctions also covered 44 oil tankers, four oil stations in China, and the Indian Nayara energy company that imported, last year, 100 million barrels of crude oil from Russia at a value of five billion dollars.

Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said in a statement that London was intensifying pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin by targeting his oil and gas fleets. She reaffirmed support for Ukraine.
