Brazilian Ambassador Celebrates Decades of Strong Kuwaiti-Brazilian Relations

Kuwait city: Brazilian Ambassador to Kuwait Rodrigo d'Araujo Gabsch affirmed on Sunday that Brazil and Kuwait enjoy a strong partnership across several fields, particularly energy and food security. This statement was made during a ceremony marking the 203rd anniversary of Brazil's Independence Day, attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs Amb. Nawaf Al-Ahmad and several heads of diplomatic missions.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Gabsch highlighted the notable progress in bilateral relations this year, especially in trade. Several public and private sector delegations have visited Kuwait for productive discussions with their counterparts. He emphasized that Brazil remains a reliable partner for Kuwait in food and energy security, citing ongoing negotiations on bilateral agreements aimed at updating the legal framework, reinforcing over five decades of friendship.

The ambassador recalled that diplomatic relations were established in 1968, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of opening resident embassies in Brasilia and Kuwait City. He pointed out historic milestones, such as the accreditation of Kuwait's first resident ambassador to Brazil, Jalal Al-Rifai, on July 31, 1975, followed by Brazil's first resident ambassador to Kuwait, Paulo Peccheti, who presented his credentials on November 9, 1975.

Gabsch described this 50-year journey as a tribute of appreciation to the diplomats and leaders who have strengthened the foundations of bilateral ties, which now stand as a model of productive partnership and solid friendship. He concluded by expressing Brazil's aspiration for continued growth in Kuwait-Brazil friendship and cooperation in the decades ahead.
