Villach: A young Syrian refugee attacked a crowd with a knife in the Austrian city of Villach, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old boy and injuring four others, with two of the victims sustaining serious injuries.
According to Kuwait News Agency, police spokesman Rainer Dionisio reported to Austrian Radio and TV that the situation was brought under control when a passing food delivery rider, also a Syrian refugee, intervened. The rider used his vehicle to ram into the attacker, preventing further harm and allowing police to arrest the suspect.
Dionisio disclosed that the suspect, who is an asylum seeker, holds a valid residence permit and does not have a criminal record.
