Blast in Market Kills 2, Wounds 11 in SW Pakistan

Balochistan: At least two people were killed and 11 others received injuries in an explosion that ripped through a market in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, said an official on Sunday.

According to Kuwait News Agency, a senior administrative official, Deputy Commissioner Riyaz Khan, informed the media that the explosion occurred in Balochistan's Qila Abdullah district. The blast resulted in two fatalities and left 11 individuals injured.

Initial investigations, as stated by Deputy Commissioner Khan, indicate that the explosives were planted in a vehicle. Following the explosion, security forces promptly cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation.

An emergency was declared at all government hospitals in the district, where medical assistance was being provided to those injured in the blast. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack and expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.

In a statement, Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the ongoing battle against terrorism, describing it as a crucial aspect of national security. He reiterated that efforts would persist until the last terrorist is eliminated.

This incident occurs amid a surge in terror attacks in Pakistan, particularly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, which share borders with Afghanistan.
