Kuwait City: Belgium's Ambassador to Kuwait, Christian Dooms, emphasized the longstanding relations between Belgium and Kuwait while expressing a commitment to further develop these ties across various sectors. Speaking to KUNA during the reception of a Belgian trade delegation visiting Kuwait from April 28-30, Dooms highlighted the visit's objective to enhance bilateral relations and explore opportunities in alignment with Kuwait's development vision.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the delegation comprises 40 representatives from Belgian companies specializing in areas such as cybersecurity, renewable energy, sustainable development, health services, and construction. The delegation also includes businesspersons and firms from the Duchy of Luxembourg. The visitors aim to showcase the expertise of Belgian companies and hope to establish new avenues for collaboration with Kuwait.
Isabelle Grippa, CEO of hub.brussels, stated to KUNA that the visit demonstrates a strong intent to establish new cooperative links with countries in the region, particularly Kuwait. The delegation's goal is to strengthen relations and present the benefits and expertise of Belgian companies to Kuwaiti entities.
The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed the delegation earlier in the day, underscoring the profound and enduring relationship between the two nations. In a statement, the chamber noted that the trade exchange volume between Belgium and Kuwait reached USD 253.5 million in 2023.
Qaisar Hijazin, Secretary General of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC), remarked that Kuwait is considered a significant investment partner, especially in strategic projects involving oil and gas in Belgium.
Additionally, the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority delivered a presentation on Kuwait Vision 2035, highlighting key projects and partnerships across all sectors. The visiting delegation is scheduled to engage with various Kuwaiti institutions, governmental bodies, and private sector representatives to discuss potential commercial and economic collaboration opportunities.
