Belgian exports to GCC up by 23.9 pct, imports by 92 pct in ’22 – figures

Belgian exports to the six-member Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) went up by 23.9% in 2022, from 6.73 billion euro (USD 7.34 billion) in 2021 to 8.34 billion euro (USD 9,09 billion) in 2022, according to official figures.

Belgium?’s total imports from GGC increased by a whopping 92% from 6.41 billion euro (USD 6.99 billion) in 2021 to 12.31 billion euro (USD 13.4 billion) in 2022, showed the figures released by the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency.

Belgian exports to Kuwait went up from 305.17 million euro (USD 333.01 million) in 2021 to 370.96 million euro (USD 404.76 million) in 2022 up by 21.6%, it said.

Belgian import, however, from Kuwait went down from 339.97 million euro (USD 370.94 million) in 2021 to 243.6 million euro (USD 265.13 million) in 2022, a drop of 28,3%.

UAE was the top destination for Belgian exports going up from 3.66 billion euro (USD 3.99 billion) in 2021 to 4.54 billion euro (USD 4.95 billion) in 2022, up by 23.9%.

It was followed by Saudi Arabia with 2.06 billion euro (USD 2.44 billion) in 2021 increasing to 2.67 billion euro (USD 2.91 billion) in 2022, up by 29.3%, it added.

Belgium?’s exports to Qatar in 2021 were valued at 391.21 million euro (USD 426.76 million) going up to 443.25 million euro (USD 483.80 million) in 2022, an increase of 13.3%.

Belgium?’s exports to Oman increased by 0.7% from 207.28 million euro (USD 226.24 million) to 208.65 million euro (USD 227.73 million) in the same period, it noted.

To Bahrain, Belgian exports went up by 7.6% from 93.04 million euro (USD 101.45 million) to 100.15 million euro (USD 109.58 million).

On the Belgian imports from GCC, Qatar was at the top with an increase of astounding 352% from 1.37 billion (USD 1.49 billion) in 2021 to 6.21 billion euro (USD 6.76 billion) in 2022, according to the agency.

It was followed by Saudi Arabia with an increase of 26.8% from 2.60 billion euro (USD 2.83 billion) in 2021 to 3.29 billion (USD 3.58 billion) in 2022.

UAE was in the third place with an increase of 11.9% from 1.92 billion euro (USD 2.09 billion) in 2021 to 2.15 billion euro USD 2.34 bilion) in 2022, it showed Belgium imports from Oman saw an increase of an incredible 335.3% from 58.86 million euro (USD 64.17 million) in 2021 to 256.23 million (USD 279.38 million) in 2022.

Belgian imports from Bahrain saw an increase of 27.9% from 112.92 million euro (USD 123.14 million) in 2021 to 144.39 million euro (USD 124.74 million) in 2022.
