Kuwait city: The Bahraini Amir, Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, embarked on an official visit to Kuwait, responding to an invitation from the Amir, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The visit was marked by the Amir's arrival on a British battleship and a warm welcome ceremony before he proceeded to Seif Palace.
According to Kuwait News Agency, several significant events have marked Kuwait's history in the past decades. In 1968, the establishment of the Kuwait Cement Company with a capital of KD 2.5 million was a pivotal moment in bolstering the country's industrial sector. In 1990, during a meeting in Taif, Saudi Arabia, the then Kuwait Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, urged U.S. Secretary of State James Baker for expedited efforts to remove Iraqi occupation forces from Kuwait.
In 1996, a tragic incident occurred at the eastern Doha power station due to a leakage of poisonous hydrocarbon sulfide gas. The accident, which happened during routine maintenance of the cooling pipes, resulted in the death of one worker and caused suffocation in 11 others. Moving forward to 2000, the Kuwaiti government approved the formation of a committee for economic reforms, chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The committee was tasked with overseeing the implementation of the government's manifesto and related cabinet decisions.
In 2014, the Kuwait Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, sponsored and attended a UNESCO ceremony to honor Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a global personality for culture and education for the period 2014-15. More recently, in 2018, Kuwait secured a seat at the International Communications Council for a four-year term following elections held in Dubai, UAE.
