Bahraini Amir Begins Official Visit to Kuwait.

Kuwait: The Bahraini Amir Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa commenced an official visit to Kuwait, following an invitation from the Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Bahraini Amir arrived on a British battleship and was greeted with a welcoming ceremony before proceeding to Seif Palace. According to Kuwait News Agency, on this day in 1990, Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah met with US Secretary of State James Baker in Taif, Saudi Arabia. During their meeting, Amir Sheikh Jaber urged for the expedited expulsion of Iraqi forces occupying Kuwait. In 1996, a hazardous incident occurred at the eastern Doha power station due to a leak of poisonous hydrocarbon sulfide gas. The leak claimed the life of one worker and led to the suffocation of 11 others during routine maintenance of the cooling pipes. The year 2000 marked the Kuwaiti government's approval of forming a committee for economic reforms. The committee, chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, was responsible for monitoring the implementation of the government manifesto and relevant cabinet decisions. In 2014, Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah sponsored and attended a UNESCO ceremony. The event honored Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a global personality for culture and education for the 2014-2015 period. In 2018, Kuwait secured a seat at the International Communications Council for a four-year term following elections held in Dubai, UAE.
