Bahrain attends the third summit of the International Crimea Platform

Delegated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid All Zayani attended, remotely, the third summit of the International Crimea Platform, which was held today.

The event was chaired by President Vladimir Zelensky, President of Ukraine, with the participation of a number of heads of state and government, foreign ministers, and representatives of the countries participating in the summit.

Addressing the summit in a recorded speech, the minister reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the world, affirming the Kingdom’s firm belief in the priority of wisdom, dialogue and diplomatic means to address conflicts in accordance with international law and the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.

He underscored the utmost importance of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and non-violence and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

He said that during his recent visit to the Ukrainian capital Kiev and his meetings with the Ukrainian leadership, he conveyed Bahrain’s firm stance in this regard.

He reiterated Bahrain’s call to end the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine through peaceful means and restored peace in Europe.

He stressed Bahrain’s support since the beginning of the war in Ukraine to the implementation of the Minsk agreements, underscoring their importance in finding a permanent solution to the conflict.

He noted that Bahrain, within its commitment to peace, contributed to humanitarian efforts, including providing relief aid, supporting prisoner exchange initiatives, and facilitating supplies of basic foodstuffs, in addition to participating actively in the Jeddah talks on the war in Ukraine, which was hosted by Saudi Arabia early this month.

“Bahrain has voiced support for peace efforts in Ukraine led by His Holiness the Pope, the Ukrainian President’s formula for peace, the Chinese initiative, and various other international diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace in Ukraine”, said Dr. Al Zayani.

He reiterated the necessity of reaching peaceful solutions to the conflict, engaging in constructive dialogue, and enhancing understanding and cooperation with the ultimate goal of promoting stability and prosperity for all.

He expressed the hope that this summit would be a catalyst for positive change, encourage strong partnerships, and pave the way for a brighter future, reiterated Bahrain’s readiness to contribute to the collective efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
