Asmar Praises Central Bank Governor’s Actions to Tackle Financial Misconduct

Beirut: General Labor Union Head Bechara Asmar has praised the decisive measures taken by the Central Bank Governor to address financial misconduct and corruption. The governor's actions have focused on uncovering illusionary companies, money laundering operations, and illegal commissions facilitated by intermediaries. These efforts also involve investigating suspicious accounts linked to specific parties and pursuing illegal transfers abroad. Lawsuits have been filed both in Lebanon and France to prosecute former officials and companies implicated in embezzling and misusing Central Bank funds.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Asmar described these measures as a "tremendous step" seen by the majority of Lebanese citizens as a move towards achieving justice, uncovering the full truth, and assigning responsibility for the financial disaster affecting all depositors and the national economy. He emphasized the importance of these actions in restoring confidence in the financial system.

Asmar expressed his hope that the Central Bank Governor, with the support of honorable stakeholders, will continue to adhere to this approach. He stressed the need for ongoing efforts in auditing, accountability, and recovering looted funds to ensure the financial system's integrity and stability.
