Asghar Khaji calls for confronting terrorism and respecting sovereignty of Syria

Senior advisor to Iranian Foreign Minister on Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji, affirmed that the positive developments in the relations of Arab countries with Syria are in the interest and security of the peoples of the region.

During talks in Tehran with Geir Pedersen, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the UN for Syria, Asghar Khaji stressed the need to confront the phenomenon of terrorism, and to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.

In turn, Pedersen, who visits Iran as part of his regional consultations, briefed the Iranian official on some of the measures taken regarding Syria, including the “step by step” initiative to resolve the crisis there.

The two sides reviewed the latest developments in Syria, especially the recent quartet meeting in Moscow, which brought together the foreign ministers of Syria, Iran, Russia and Turkey.
