Kuwait city: The Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Centre (ASCC), in cooperation with the Kuwait Center for Autism, has launched the "Me and the Sea" art exhibition, showcasing the creative works of individuals with special needs, with contributions from various supporting centers.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Rawan Al-Qahtani, head of the Centre's educational administration, emphasized that the partnership aligns with Kuwait Vision 2035. This vision focuses on reinforcing cultural identity, empowering cultural institutions, and fostering community inclusion initiatives that offer equal opportunities for all. The exhibition, which will continue until December 13, displays approximately 67 artworks created by participants from centers dedicated to serving people with special needs.
The exhibition features a diverse array of artistic expressions, including paintings, drawings, models, and handicrafts that convey the participants' unique visions of the sea. Al-Qahtani highlighted that these works underscore the creativity of children and youth, showcasing their artistic talents and abilities. The exhibition serves as a platform to promote the inclusion of individuals with special needs in cultural and artistic activities, allowing them to express their talents and display their capabilities to the broader community.
Additionally, the initiative supports Kuwait's ongoing efforts to build a more inclusive society through programs that encourage participation, embrace diversity, and reinforce the role of cultural institutions in nurturing creativity. Al-Qahtani further mentioned that the exhibition contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals, such as providing inclusive and equitable quality education, reducing inequalities, and establishing sustainable cultural and educational spaces. It also bolsters the importance of museums and cultural centers as informal learning platforms that contribute to building a more aware and accepting society.
