ASC General Assembly Convenes in Kuwait with 32 Nations Participating


Kuwait city: The Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) convened its general assembly in Kuwait, presided over by the confederation’s head, Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah. The assembly was attended by International Shooting Sport Federation Chairperson Luciano Rossi, marking a significant gathering of the shooting sport’s leadership.



According to Kuwait News Agency, ASC Secretary General and President of the Kuwaiti and Arab shooting confederations, Duaij Al-Otaibi, announced that the meeting was fruitful, resulting in resolutions aimed at advancing the sport across Asia. Key decisions included the allocation of qualification tickets for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympiad, building on the strong performances seen in the past two Olympic events.



The assembly also focused on the preliminary preparations for the 20th edition of the Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Nagoya, Japan, next year. Preparations for upcoming championships in host countries China and Qatar were also reviewed. In a gesture of appreciation, the assembly resolved to send a cable of gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his support, which has significantly bolstered the sport in Asia.



Luciano Rossi expressed his commitment to attending the meeting to ensure continued coordination with the Asian Confederation, emphasizing the importance of developing the sport further. He praised the efforts of national unions and lauded the Kuwaiti confederation’s role in nurturing the continental organization.



Kuwait is currently hosting the Asian tournament, which began earlier today and will continue until November 8th. The event features competitors from 17 countries. Earlier in the day, the ASC Executive Committee held its 42nd meeting at the Asian Shooting Championship held at the Sabah Al-Ahmad Shooting Range Complex. The meeting, chaired by Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, included discussions on enhancing the development of Asian shooting sports and supporting the continent’s athletes.



Sheikh Salman also highlighted the confederation’s efforts to increase the number of Asian qualifiers for the upcoming Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, building on the successful performance of Asian teams at the Paris 2024 Games. He extended his gratitude to Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, as well as the Public Authority for Sport, for their continuous support of the confederation.
