Arab Parliament to Present Pro-Palestine Document to Arab Summit

Cairo: President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammad Al-Yamahi, announced that the parliament has adopted a document in support of the Palestinian people, which will be presented at the extraordinary Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Cairo in early March. The Arab Parliament, acting as the legislative arm of the Arab League, has expressed its full support for the Palestinians who have maintained their presence despite efforts to displace them or annex their land.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the announcement was made during the seventh conference of the Arab Parliament and speakers of the Arab parliaments. This conference, hosted by the Arab League, is being conducted in partnership with the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. Al-Yamahi reiterated support for Egypt's initiatives aimed at formulating a comprehensive plan for post-conflict reconstruction in the Gaza Strip and safeguarding the Palestinians' legitimate right to security on their land.

Al-Yamahi highlighted that this conference is taking place amidst unprecedented challenges to the Palestinian cause, which has been a pivotal issue for Arab countries since 1967. He condemned the attempts to displace the Palestinian people and undermine their cause, describing such actions as unacceptable not only to Palestinians and Arabs but to anyone who values freedom and patriotism. He emphasized that these actions violate the UN-recognized rights of Palestinians and infringe upon the sovereignty of an Arab nation.

He called on the international community to fulfill their legal and moral obligations by ensuring a lasting ceasefire to the Israeli occupation aggression, prosecuting Zionist war criminals, and ending the Israeli occupation of Arab lands in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon. Earlier, chief parliamentarians from various Arab countries convened for a private consultative meeting to discuss and approve the draft of the pro-Palestine document before its submission at the upcoming Arab leaders' summit.
