Arab Parliament Speaker Stresses Palestinian Cause as Top Priority

Kuwait city: Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Yamahi affirmed on Saturday that the Palestinian cause remains at the forefront of the Arab Parliament's priorities, driven by its national responsibility toward the Palestinian people.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in his opening address at the second session of the fourth legislative term, held at the Arab League headquarters, Al-Yamahi welcomed the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to administer Gaza. He described this development as a crucial step toward alleviating the humanitarian crisis and facilitating the next phase of the ceasefire agreement.

Al-Yamahi emphasized that any political process that does not result in a complete and permanent cessation of aggression, the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the unconditional entry of humanitarian and medical aid cannot be deemed serious. He condemned the ongoing settlement expansion in the West Bank, stating it violates the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and hinders de-escalation efforts.

He further asserted that regional security and stability hinge on ending the occupation and enabling Palestinians to establish an independent, sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital. The Arab Parliament speaker reiterated support for political solutions to crises in Yemen, Sudan, Syria, Libya, and Somalia, condemned repeated Israeli attacks on Syria and Lebanon, and called for stronger Arab parliamentary coordination and solidarity in addressing regional challenges.
