Arab League Urges Immediate Aid and Protection for Gaza Civilians

Cairo: Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmad Abul-Gheit, on Sunday issued a humanitarian appeal to end conflicts around the world, calling for immediate action to protect civilians and provide urgent and unimpeded humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

According to Kuwait News Agency, in a statement marking World Humanitarian Day, Abul-Gheit expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all humanitarian workers in the Arab region and across the globe. He highlighted their dedication to serving humanity and protecting the innocent amid crises, disasters, and armed conflicts. These workers contribute to alleviating suffering and saving lives, despite the immense challenges and dangers they face.

Abul-Gheit stressed that Gaza continues to suffer from hunger, destruction, and a severe shortage of medicine, water, and food due to the suffocating blockade and starvation policy imposed by the occupation on more than two million Palestinians, amid the silence of the international community. The Secretary-General reiterated his call on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and act urgently to end wars and conflicts worldwide, emphasizing that Gaza must remain in the conscience of the world.

Abul-Gheit also affirmed the Arab League's full solidarity with Arab people suffering from humanitarian crises, reaffirming the organization's steadfast commitment to continue supporting the most vulnerable groups through its specialized ministerial councils. He underlined the need to respect the principles of international humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, as well as the protection of humanitarian workers from any form of attack, and to ensure a safe environment that allows them to fulfill their noble humanitarian mission.
