Cairo: The Arab League commended on Tuesday Kuwait's leading role in honoring and supporting Arab media talent through its sponsorship of the Excellence Award, which recognizes creative work in the media field. This acknowledgment was made during a speech by the League's Assistant Secretary-General and Head of Media Affairs, Ambassador Ahmad Khattabi, at the opening of the 103rd regular session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media, chaired by Qatar.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Khattabi expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Kuwait for its annual sponsorship of the Media Excellence Award, praising this initiative, which aims to encourage talented and creative Arab journalists. He announced that the award will be presented to the winners on Wednesday during the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers.
Khattabi confirmed that Tuesday's meeting will address several items on the agenda of the Arab Ministers of Information. These include activating the new version of the Arab Media Code of Ethics, the media strategy for combating terrorism, the media and information literacy strategy, the environmental media plan, and developing an executive program for the 2030 media roadmap for sustainable development.
He added that the agenda also includes a request for the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport to join the Council of Arab Ministers of Information as observers. Furthermore, Khattabi noted that the 103rd session presents an opportunity to engage with the demands of the era of artificial intelligence and digital development.
Kuwait is participating in the Standing Committee meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Information, headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Services Affairs, Salem Al-Watyan, and includes the Director of the International Media Department at the Ministry, Rasha Al-Sejari.
