Arab League Launches Ninth Arab Media Excellence Award Under Kuwait’s Patronage

Kuwait City: The Arab League's media and communications sector announced Tuesday the organization of the ninth edition of the Arab Media Excellence Award, themed "Arab Youth and New Media", under the patronage of Kuwait. The award includes four categories: television, radio, press, and digital media, and aims to highlight distinguished media models across the Arab world.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, Ambassador Ahmad Khattabi, emphasized the importance of participating in this session as it addresses topics that directly impact the youth. He noted that new media is a crucial element of modernity in Arab societies, and social media has become indispensable, especially for the younger generation.

Khattabi added that the discussions during the award event will focus on the role of social media in raising youth awareness about societal issues, supporting comprehensive development, preserving national and cultural identity, and fostering leadership and innovation. He explained that the Arab Media Excellence Award is a prestigious award targeting accredited governmental and private media figures, institutions, and Arab organizations.

Khattabi pointed out that the award encourages quality and professional media work, enhancing the capabilities of Arab media professionals. The Arab League will continue to accept nominations until the end of next April, with conditions that the entity or candidate must be of Arab nationality, the submitted work must be in Arabic, and the candidate must not have previously received this award.
