Cairo: The Arab League's fifth meeting for legal and security experts commenced on Monday, centering on Kuwait's draft proposal for an Arab guide against hate speech. The meeting is a critical step towards finalizing a comprehensive document aimed at curbing hate speech across the Arab region.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Maha Bakheet, the head of legal affairs at the Arab League, highlighted the importance of the gathering, which is chaired by Kuwait. The meeting's primary objective is to focus on refining the draft proposal, ensuring it is ready for the next assembly of Arab justice ministers scheduled for November. The draft was initially introduced during the 40th meeting of the Arab Justice Ministers last November.
Leading Kuwait's representation at the two-day meeting is Colonel Jarrah AbuSulaib, head of legal affairs at the Ministry of Interior. The discussions are expected to pave the way for a unified stance on combating hate speech, as the region seeks to address and mitigate the impacts of hate-driven rhetoric.
