Kuwait city: The Arab League commended Kuwait, Sunday, for its pivotal contributions to joint Arab efforts over the past decades, marking the 64th anniversary of Kuwait's accession to the League.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories, Ambassador Saeed Abu Ali, noted that Kuwait's membership has been a valuable addition to the Arab system. He emphasized that since joining in 1961, Kuwait has played a distinctive and influential role, recognized for its initiatives and vision that strengthened collective Arab action.
Abu Ali highlighted Kuwait's foreign policy as being grounded in an understanding of regional and international dynamics. He praised the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's legacy for guiding Kuwaiti diplomacy with wisdom and courage, particularly during Arab crises in the 1970s and 1980s.
He further stressed that Kuwait has consistently championed Arab unity and supported key causes, especially the Palestinian issue, which remains central to Kuwait's leadership and citizens. Kuwait's dynamic and humanitarian foreign policy, along with its commitment to Arab solidarity through active participation in the Arab League framework, was also lauded.
Kuwait officially joined the Arab League as a full member on July 20, 1961, shortly after gaining independence.
