Cairo: Arab League's Secretary General Ahmad Aboul-Gheit announced that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states are significantly increasing their investments in artificial intelligence (AI) by establishing large-scale data centers.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Aboul-Gheit made these remarks during a forum organized by the Egyptian Society for Political Economy, Statistics, and Legislation. He emphasized that AI requires massive information centers powered by electricity, offering unprecedented potential in human history.
Furthermore, Aboul-Gheit urged the necessity of implementing binding international legislation through the United Nations to regulate the advancement of artificial intelligence. He highlighted that the transformative impact of general AI development could surpass historical milestones such as the discovery of fire and the first nuclear explosion.
