Arab League Chief Calls for US Coordination to Resolve Sudan Conflict


Kuwait city: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Abul-Gheit emphasized the importance of coordination with the United States to find political solutions to the ongoing crises in Sudan and Libya, aiming to achieve regional stability.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Abul-Gheit made these remarks during a meeting with Massad Boulos, the US President’s Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs. The discussions centered around the ongoing war in Sudan, with Abul-Gheit reiterating the call for an end to the conflict and relief for the suffering population. He noted that the Arab League is actively monitoring both regional and international initiatives to restore peace and initiate a comprehensive political process within Sudan.

On the topic of Libya, Abul-Gheit emphasized the Arab League’s commitment to supporting efforts that preserve the nation’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and stability. The American official, Boulos, highlighted Washington’s efforts to halt the fighting in Sudan swiftly, provide ur
gent humanitarian aid, and establish conditions conducive to a comprehensive Sudanese political process.

Boulos further briefed the Secretary-General on the US’s position against military escalation and violations in El Fasher city. He also shared insights on the US perspective regarding the situation in Libya, outlining the challenges and opportunities for achieving stability in the region.
