Arab League Applauds Yemen Prisoner Exchange Agreement

Muscat: The Arab League has expressed approval for the recently signed agreement in Muscat, Oman, concerning the exchange of prisoners in Yemen.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the Cairo-based League described the agreement as an important humanitarian step that should be supported and complemented by further initiatives aimed at the release of additional prisoners, abductees, and detainees in Yemen. The statement highlighted the significant mediation efforts made by Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, and the International Committee of the Red Cross in reaching this agreement.

The League voiced optimism that this deal would foster conditions conducive to fully resolving Yemen's ongoing crisis. Earlier today, the Yemeni government announced a "semi full" agreement with the Houthi militia concerning the release of 2,900 prisoners and detainees from both sides. This development is part of the 10th round of talks, which spanned 12 days in Muscat, with the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, in attendance.
