Arab League and Arab Organization Host Conference on Intercultural Dialogue

Cairo: The Arab League, in collaboration with the Arab Organization for Dialogue and International Cooperation, hosted an intellectual conference under the theme: "Image of Arabs and Interculture Dialogue..Future Visions", on Thursday. In a keynote speech, the League's Chief of Civil Society Organizations, Minister Plenipotentiary Nawal Barada, emphasized the importance of promoting intercultural dialogue as a fundamental approach to addressing stereotypes, discrimination, racism, and hate speech, while fostering communities rooted in mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Barada highlighted the Arab League's 80th anniversary, noting the significant historical milestones and challenges that have shaped the history of Arab countries and peoples. These experiences have contributed to promoting cooperation by coordinating efforts and unifying Arab visions and stances at international events. She reaffirmed the Cairo-based bloc's commitment to enhancing civil society organizations' role in tackling international challenges and their effects on the Arab region. Since 2002, the creation of a civil society organization department has served as a critical link between civil society and the League.

Hanan Yusuf, Chairwoman of the Arab Organization for Dialogue and International Cooperation, also addressed the conference, stressing that the global perception of Arabs poses one of the primary challenges needing a careful and balanced examination. She advocated for a modern approach that reflects the humanitarian and cultural values contributed by Arab civilization over the ages. Yusuf praised the conference as an ideological and diplomatic platform for sharing perspectives and experiences, aiming to consolidate the Arab presence in the international arena through responsible and effective cultural discourse.
