API Chief: 5-Year Vision to Bolster Arab Planning Institute’s Know-How Status

Kuwait city: Director General of the Arab Planning Institute (API) Dr. Adel Al-Wugayan has outlined the Institute's ambitious five-year vision aimed at enhancing its status as a leading and credible know-how entity. In a recent interview with KUNA, Al-Wugayan emphasized that the API seeks to advance development planning systems across Arab nations and promote cooperation with policymakers to support inclusive growth and sustainable development.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the API's newly launched 10th strategy for 2025-2030 focuses on establishing a framework that aligns the Institute's goals with its overarching vision. This involves addressing the development challenges faced by Arab countries. Dr. Al-Wugayan explained that the strategy is built on principles designed to establish clear, measurable strategic goals, prioritize activities, secure resources, and adopt performance indicators to track progress.

The strategy also incorporates recommendations to enhance Arab capacity building, engage in regional and international dialogues, and promote research and consulting capabilities. Additionally, it aims to support policymaking and foster research excellence, while ensuring the Institute's financial and human sustainability for continued service provision.

Dr. Al-Wugayan highlighted the importance of aligning the Institute's initiatives with the diverse economic, financial, social, and environmental needs of its member states. He emphasized the plan's focus on digital technology investment to boost operational efficiency and enhance the API's influence in the developmental field.

The API's 2025-2026 training strategy aims to establish leadership in specialized development training and human capacity-building by improving program quality. The strategy introduces advanced training topics such as artificial intelligence, the green economy, and energy transition, alongside traditional subjects like economic modeling and sustainable finance.

In consulting services, the API plans to maintain its reputation as a prestigious Arab know-how entity by leveraging scientific methods and quantitative models in planning and development policies. Dr. Al-Wugayan reiterated the Institute's commitment to researching developmental planning and policies to aid Arab decision-making.
