Kuwait city: The Amiri Decree No. 222 (2025) has been issued, extending the mandate of the Central Agency for Remedying Illegal Residents Status (CARIRS) for an additional two years, starting from November 9, 2025. This decision underscores the ongoing commitment to addressing the status of illegal residents in Kuwait.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the decree follows a review of the Amiri Directive dated May 10, 2024, the original founding Amiri Decree-Law No. 467 (2010), and the subsequent renewal Decree-Law No. 208 (2023). The renewal was proposed by the Prime Minister and agreed upon by the Cabinet, highlighting a consensus on the importance of CARIRS's role.
The decree specifies that the relevant ministers are tasked with enforcing the provisions and ensuring its publication in the official gazette. This move was officially endorsed by the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Prime Minister, Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, during a ceremony at Al-Seif Palace on November 30, 2025.
