Amir Int’l Shooting Grand Prix Opens with Participation from 220 Shooters

Kuwait City: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Shooting Grand Prix officially commenced on Saturday evening, inaugurated by Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Sheikh Sabah Bader Al-Salem Al-Sabah. The week-long event, organized by the Kuwait Shooting Sport Club (KSSC), features 220 shooters representing 18 countries.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the opening ceremony was attended by Secretary-General of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo, along with representatives from various continental and national shooting associations. Sheikh Sabah Bader Al-Salem Al-Sabah provided a welcoming address, followed by remarks from the ISSF Secretary-General.

Giacomo, hailing from Italy, expressed appreciation for the patronage of His Highness the Amir and praised the organizers' efforts in facilitating the championship. He highlighted that the participation of numerous renowned shooters underscores the event's achievements over the years.

President of the organizing committee and KSSC Chairman Du'aij Al-Otaibi extended his gratitude to His Highness the Amir for the support of the annual event, emphasizing the significance of the large competitor turnout as a testament to its success.

Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Sport (PAS), Bashar Abdullah, noted the KSSC's accumulated experience in hosting both continental and international sports events. He reiterated PAS's commitment to supporting shooting sports and other clubs, aiming to propel talented Kuwaiti athletes to international success.
