Kuwait City: Kuwaiti Ambassador to China Jassem Al-Najem affirmed on Sunday Kuwait's keenness to enhance cooperation with China, especially within economy and investment.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Ambassador Al-Najem stated that several major projects between the two countries were in the works, following a delegation from the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) visiting Beijing. He elaborated that the delegation's visit was part of the ongoing efforts after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of free trade and economic zones was signed between KDIPA and China's Commerce Ministry in September 2023 during His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's visit to China.
Ambassador Al-Najem mentioned that the KDIPA delegation planned to visit various companies and institutions in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area and hold meetings with officials from China's Commerce Ministry. He highlighted Kuwait's commitment to its strategic partnership with China and emphasized the mutual benefits both nations aim to achieve.
The ambassador also acknowledged the role of Chinese companies in fostering economic cooperation between the two countries. He noted that Kuwait has launched significant development programs and projects and is open to contributions from Chinese companies due to their expertise. In 2023, Kuwait signed several MoUs with China, including one for the implementation of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project.
