Algiers: The Algerian Council of the Nation, the upper house of Parliament, announced on Monday the election of Azzouz Nasri as its new Speaker. In his acceptance speech, Nasri emphasized the National Assembly's commitment to its constitutional powers and cooperation with other state institutions. He highlighted the role of the Assembly in supporting the President of the Republic to ensure the effective functioning of the constitutional system.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Nasri called on members to fully embrace their parliamentary duties in all circumstances, focusing on legislative responsibilities such as preparing and voting on laws and monitoring government activities. His inauguration followed the midterm elections for the elected members of the National Assembly, held on March 9, with the Constitutional Court releasing the final results on March 13.
