Algeria Responds to France’s Restrictions on Diplomatic Pouch Access at Paris Airports

Algiers: The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed disapproval over the new measures imposed by the French Ministry of Interior, which restrict the access of accredited agents from its embassy to areas designated for handling diplomatic pouches at airports in Paris. According to Kuwait News Agency, the Algerian Ministry stated that these measures conflict with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. In a statement released on Thursday, the Ministry highlighted the need for adherence to international rules governing diplomatic interactions and access. The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally sought explanations from the Charge D'Affaires of the French Embassy in Algiers. The statement mentioned that the French representatives claimed unawareness of these restrictions by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. In light of these developments, Algeria has decided to reciprocate the French measures to safeguard the rights of its diplomatic mission in France, as outli ned in the statement.
