Algiers: Algeria has ordered 12 staff members from France's Embassy and Consulate to leave the country within 48 hours. This decision, announced on Monday, comes amidst escalating diplomatic tensions between the two nations.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the Algerian Foreign Ministry declared the French employees persona non grata, requiring their immediate departure. This action is a direct response to the arrest of an employee from the Algerian Consulate by French authorities on April 8.
The Algerian ministry criticized the French actions as violations of diplomatic norms and charters. It expressed that such acts infringe upon Algeria's sovereignty and highlighted the persistent negative stance of the French Interior Minister towards Algeria.
The ministry further warned that Algeria would respond decisively to any future actions by the French minister that threaten the country's sovereignty.
