ALECSO Chief: Cooperation with Kuwait Exceptional, Sustainable

Kuwait City: Director General of the Arab League of Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) Mohammad Ould Omar lauded on Monday the outstanding role of the State of Kuwait within the organization, saying that relations with the Gulf country could be described as exceptional and sustainable.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Ould Omar highlighted Kuwait's numerous and important contributions to ALECSO, particularly emphasizing Kuwait's recent support of the regional forum to protect Arab culture and cultural properties held in Beirut. He noted that Kuwait had hosted a variety of ALECSO meetings, and the organization was keen on the Kuwaiti leadership's initiative to host a donors conference to support education in Somalia.

Ould Omar revealed that ALECSO would host several functions in Kuwait, including the launch of the Jerusalem forum, coinciding with Kuwait being chosen as the capital of Arab culture. He pointed out the twinning agreement between Jerusalem and Kuwait City, making Jerusalem a partner in the capital of Arab culture.

He expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti leadership and people for their ongoing support to ALECSO, emphasizing the organization's commitment to enhancing cooperation with experts and officials from Kuwait. He praised the level of education in Kuwait, noting the continuous improvement in knowledge-seeking and studying amid recent digital revolutions and rapid changes.

Ould Omar affirmed that the level of development was evident during his visit to Kuwait this year for the launch of the Kuwait capital of Arab culture 2025 celebrations. He also expressed ALECSO's interest in artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting the organization's desire to use digital tools to promote science, education, and creativity, while adhering to ALECSO's AI ethics accord.

He pointed to the Arab programming week, which engaged around three million Arab children, and revealed that the 2025 session would address the use of programming and AI in the service of Arab culture. The session is planned in cooperation with Kuwait's Al-Saad Foundation for Knowledge and Scientific Research, with Kuwait set to host the final ceremony by the end of this year.
