Mumbai: The Al-Sabah Archaeological Collection, managed by Dar al-Athar Al-Islamiyah in Kuwait, participated in the opening ceremony of the "Networks of the Past" gallery. The event was held by the Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum of Maharajah Vastu Sangrahalaya in Mumbai.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Dr. Mohammed Khaled Al-Jassar, Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, led the Kuwaiti delegation. Al-Jassar expressed pride in supporting Dar al-Athar Al-Islamiyah, emphasizing its role in promoting Kuwait's cultural diplomacy. He acknowledged the support of Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, noting its significance for Kuwait's cultural identity.
The Al-Sabah Collection's participation has garnered global recognition due to its artistic and historical value. Al-Jassar extended gratitude to Dar al-Athar Al-Islamiyah and its Director General Sheikha Hessa Sabah Al-Salem for sharing these treasures. The exhibition is a global initiative resulting from years of collaboration among international museums, aiming to reinterpret human history and highlight the interconnectedness of civilizations.
Present at the event were Kuwait's Consul General in Mumbai Emad Abdulaziz Al-Kharraz, Director of the Al-Sabah Archaeological Collection Salam Qawqji, and other officials from Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyah. This participation underscores Kuwait's global cultural prominence.
The exhibition, showcasing pivotal moments in human civilization, offers a fresh educational perspective. It traces history from the Indus Valley Civilization through ancient Egypt, Greece, and China, highlighting cultural interactions shaping the ancient world.
Kuwait's contribution includes eleven rare artifacts from the Al-Sabah Collection, evidencing cultural exchange in the ancient world. Artifacts on loan include a gilded tablet from the Oxus Valley civilization and a silver dish with a gilt center from the Eastern Hellenistic period. The collection also features vessels from eastern Iran and exemplars of artistic craftsmanship.
The Kuwaiti delegation, led by Al-Jassar, will engage in cultural and educational activities, including the Nalanda Learning Center opening, scientific tours, and field visits. These engagements ensure Kuwait's integral presence in the international effort.
