Al-Araji_The real challenge of water shortage must receive great political attention

The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, confirmed today, Sunday, that the real challenge of water shortage must receive great political attention.

The chancellery’s statement stated that Al-Araji participated in the climate change and security conference hosted by the House of Representatives, under the auspices of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and in cooperation with the Sanad Organization for Economic Development, knowing that the Iraqi state, with all its institutions, is concerned with the issue of life, and we must also raise people’s awareness to rationalize water consumption.

He explained that raising awareness about how to deal with water and the importance of rationalizing it should start from kindergartens, schools, universities, government institutions, places of worship, farms, homes and all aspects of life.

He explained that the government supported peasants and farmers who use modern irrigation techniques and did not support those who use primitive methods in irrigation operations, which is an important decision that aims to rationalize water consumption.

He continued, “We have to reach real understandings with the three neighboring countries, Iran, Turkey and Syria, in order for everyone to benefit in this aspect.”

He referred to the government and directed all Ministers and officials in the Iraqi state who meet with officials in neighboring countries to discuss the water file mainly and fundamentally.

Al-Araji warned: We are facing a real danger in the water file, and Iraq is very interested in this file.

He stressed that there is a real danger to humans through what is thrown into the water, and we need the concerted efforts of everyone to develop a unified strategy to confront the danger of water scarcity, which is a national duty that we must all work with./ End
