Kuwait city: The Arab Energy Organization (AEO) on Sunday expressed its gratitude to member states for their ongoing support of efforts aimed at advancing and restructuring the pan-Arab bloc's operations and activities. This acknowledgment was made in a final communique during the conclusion of the organization's 115th ministerial meeting held in Kuwait.
According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting also saw the adoption of the bloc's estimated draft budget for 2026. The General Secretariat was tasked with overseeing the implementation of strategic initiatives that aim to redefine the organization's identity as the "Arab Energy Organization." The AEO commended member states for their continued commitment to the Middle East Green Initiative and the application of the Carbon Circular Economy (CCE) concept. Additionally, the communique tasked the General Secretariat with facilitating technical coordination between member states and a Saudi taskforce to foster bilateral cooperation and address relevant regional priorities.
In a significant development, Khaled Al-Otaibi was elected as the organization's secretary-general for a three-year term starting in early March 2026. The 115th ministerial meeting was initiated earlier in the day under the chairmanship of Minister of Oil Tareq Al-Roumi.
