Cairo: Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Aboul-Gheit expressed his desire for a unified Arab position to back the steadfastness of Palestinians. He made this statement during the seventh conference of the Arab Parliament and chairmen of Arab legislatures held at the Arab League's headquarters.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Aboul-Gheit emphasized the rejection of displacing Palestinians and opposed supporting alternative initiatives. He highlighted that the Arab region is experiencing one of its most perilous periods in modern history, with the Palestinian cause, a significant concern among all Arabs, facing threats of liquidation through displacement after land destruction.
Aboul-Gheit stated that the idea of displacing Palestinians is rejected not only on an Arab level but also internationally, as it is considered illicit, immoral, and unrealistic. He stressed the exceptional importance of a collective Arab voice during this decisive period.
The Secretary-General reiterated the commitment to the two-state solution vision as the only path to achieving comprehensive peace in the region. He elaborated that peace and security cannot be attained without establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
