A government Spokesman reveals the main obstacles that delayed the implementation of the government program

Spokesman for the government, Bassem Al-Awadi, clarified today, Sunday, the mechanism of work of the team to follow up the implementation of the government program and revealed in numbers its total activities.

Al-Awadi said, in a statement, followed by NINA, that “a special team has been formed since the vote to assign Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani to follow up the implementation of the government program,” noting that “the team has set up a special program to monitor the decisions taken by the Iraqi ministries and how these decisions are compatible with the government program.”

He added, “There are five basics for the government program, which are fighting poverty, combating unemployment, providing services, economic reform, and fighting corruption directed by the team to the minister.

He stated that “this is the first time since 2003 and until today that a team of this level and accuracy has been formed to follow up the program,” pointing out that “the government team conducted, within six months, 518 communications, 85 meetings, and 12 training workshops.”

He stressed that “one of the important issues is credibility in dealing,” pointing out that “a second meeting will be held soon to announce the rates of implementation of the government program, which are sent in a special report to Parliament to inform members of the House of Representatives about it.”

He explained, “There is no Ministry lagging behind in implementing the government program, and measures will be taken against the Ministry that fails to do so,” pointing out that “all ministries are committed to the government program, but the investigation rates vary.”

He indicated that “the extent of the ministries’ commitment to implementing the government program is one of the most important factors in the minister’s evaluation,” pointing out that “after approving the budget, the implementation of the government program in the ministries will be more followed up.”

He stated that “one of the most important obstacles that delayed the implementation of the government program is the budget, as the government has been working during the past 6 months on a 1/12 basis, but after approving the budget, there will be 100 percent disbursement doors, and the ministries’ activity will double more than before.”

Today, Sunday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani chaired an emergency session devoted to discussing the semi-annual report, regarding the evaluation of the government program implemented by ministries and agencies not associated with a ministry.
