A former member of the Nineveh Governorate Council: The Parliament failed to monitor the federal Ministries, so how can it monitor the work of local governments?

The former member of the Nineveh Governorate Council, Ali Khudair, confirmed that the freezing of the provincial councils created a great void in Nineveh Governorate.

He said, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), that “the freezing of the provincial council elections caused an increase in corruption in Nineveh and the whole of Iraq.”

He added, “The House of Representatives failed to monitor the federal Ministries, so how can it monitor the work of local governments, describing the presence of provincial councils as an impenetrable bulwark to reduce corruption and monitor the work of local governments.”
