Kuwait City: The 45th preparatory meeting of the coordination and follow-up committee in the field of municipal work within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) commenced on Sunday.
According to Kuwait News Agency, Salah Bakhit, a member of the coordination and follow-up committee, expressed Kuwait's warm welcome to the guests of the upcoming 28th ministerial meeting of the Ministers of Municipal Affairs of the GCC, set to begin next Thursday.
Bakhit highlighted that the preparatory meeting focused on several critical areas, including urban planning, the Gulf building code, legislative development, municipal work, and the joint Gulf municipal work plan for 2024-2030. The discussions also covered the exchange of experiences and the GCC award in the field of municipalities. Additionally, the committee considered signing cooperation agreements with specialized organizations dedicated to serving the municipal sector.
Further details from Bakhit indicated that the program would continue on Tuesday with a meeting of senior municipal officials, culminating in a ministerial meeting next Thursday. This meeting aims to adopt decisions that will contribute to achieving the GCC 2030 vision.
The Municipality of Kuwait has reiterated its commitment to providing all necessary resources to ensure the success of the event, which is designed to enhance integration among the municipalities of GCC countries.
